My name is Pattie Lamb - of Lamb on the Loom (and yes, my last name really is Lamb!). I have been happily weaving and spinning since my second child was born over 30 years ago.
Colors and geometry are my driving inspiration. The way that color and form elicit certain feelings find their way into my work. I pull colors from my yarn supply and start to play, trying out colorways and structures that capture my imagination. |
How do I create my pieces?
Visit my Storyboard for a step-by-step description of how a piece is created in my studio |
I love to create beautiful fabrics that feel wonderful against the skin with a soft hand. I have several floor looms in my studio, and enjoy working with luxurious yarns such as silk, Tencel®, hand painted wools, and my own homespun yarns. The weaving patterns that I use showcase the beauty of the yarns. Sometimes it can be a simple 4 harness pattern, or a more complicated pattern that requires as many as 16 harnesses to weave.
My favorite items to weave are scarves and shawls, however, weaving linens for the home, including table runners and towels brings me great joy because I know that they will be used for everyday use. Most of these household items are woven with fine cottons and linens using traditional patterns. I strive to create unique, one-of-a-kind pieces every time I sit at the loom. |
