Firebirds Cotton & Silk Shawl/ Marigold Weft/ Handwoven
This handwoven cotton and silk shawl was inspired by a beautiful hand-painted fine cotton warp from NC artist, Kathrin Weber of Blazing Shuttles. The body of warp was painted with shades of red, rose, purple, turquoise and gold. The asymmetrical borders are a hand-painted lavender/purple cotton. This shawl was woven with a very fine bright yellow-orange silk.
The 16-harness pattern is a fancy twill pattern that allows the colors in the shawl to magically blend from light to dark and back again. There are so many color changes that you can change the look of the shawl.
The shawl is very lightweight, drapes beautifully, and can be scrunched up and worn as a scarf. It was hemmed by hand with a small 3/8" hem on either end.
