Dimity Tencel & Silk Dimity Scarf/ Handwoven
Dimity cloth has been woven since the 1800s, traditionally woven in silk or wool but more recently in cotton. The cloth features narrow raised ribs and most usually was woven in white or off-white.
This is a fun take on the historical cloth: a one-of-a-kind handwoven infinity scarf that was inspired by a "Handwoven" article by Sally Orgren. The warp is primarily made from a fine variegated Tencel* yarn with multiple shades of pale blue, aqua, and gold, lavender and rose. Multiple solid colors of Tencel, including turquoise, purple, cranberry, gold and lavender, were used to create tiny accent stripes across the warp. The infinity scarf was woven with a very fine aqua silk weft. The weave structure is a mixture of plain weave and tiny twill accent stripes.
Because this scarf was woven with fine threads it has an incredibly light and luxurious hand. The infinity loop measures approximately 39" around.
